Common Problems Addressed in Counseling in North County San Diego

At Estes Therapy, we cover a variety of obstacles and problems individuals face. Some of the more common issues are addiction, anxiety, abuse, communication, severe stress, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, body image issues, self-esteem, and loneliness. These issues all will continue to prevent you from feeling at one with yourself, and feeling like you can and will be the person you want to be. Some issues you face that bring you into our therapy offices will be easier to conquer, and we can do so in a few therapy sessions. However often, other, deeper wounds reveal themselves as you let yourself explore your inner hurdles, requiring more time and attention.

Individual Goals

We know that each person who walks into our counseling office is unique. Everyone has their own life experiences and thought process so the same treatment won’t work for everyone – that’s why we tailor our approach to best fit you. Each counselor on our Carlsbad/Oceanside therapy team will make an effort to get to know you as a person, and will work with you to address the issues you want to overcome. In general, our goals for individual counseling are to help our clients move past things like low self-esteem, anxiety, self-doubt, past trauma, and loneliness. Our team pulls techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, DBT, and EMDR throughout the therapy sessions in order to get the job done.

We want you to feel safe in your counseling sessions.. The therapy room is a safe place where you can open up about how you feel and never be judged. It is a safe space to express your fears, anxieties, or any other emotion – positive or negative. If you have trouble recognizing emotions, and many people do, we will help you learn how to identify what you are feeling, and how to process what that means for you. Together, we will be active in helping you grow, helping you face parts of yourself that maybe you aren’t ready to face alone. We will help you learn how to use these tools outside of our office, and identify and strengthen your support system. Your therapist will help you interact and react to others in your life in a healthy way. We want you to be able to establish emotional safety with the loved ones in your life.
