Jessica Barnes originates from the beautiful suburbs of Los Angeles. She studied Psychology at University of California at Santa Cruz. Most of her work experience outside of psychology is with children, teens, and their families. She later earned her teaching credential and taught elementary school and middle school before pursuing her graduate degree in Counseling Psychology at Argosy University. This experience has helped her gain the skills to foster the parent-child relationship, as well as gain a better understanding of children’s behavior inside the classroom and at home – and to better understand the underlying issues that lead to disruptive behavior.
Her passion for working with children, couples, and families in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy brought her to Estes Therapy. With children she uses play therapy to help children learn how to process difficult emotions. In all children and teen counseling sessions, Jessica works with the family as a whole to help implement the skills learned in counseling to every-day life.
In Jessica’s free time, she enjoys movies, dancing, and joking around with friends as she explores the gifts of San Diego. Jessica’s quirky and calming personality creates an open and protected environment for her clients.
